Sorry yall but I have to rant about this. Tuesday night my commuter car failed me on the way home on I-435 past Metcalf. My car (a 1990 Honda civic 4dr with lots of rust and no A/C that my father in-law Gave me due to him being too old to drive) had the alternator go out of it while in the middle of the highway. I was able to make it to the right shoulder safely and called the car insurance folks that would call a tow for me and pay for the first 11miles. they told me it would 45min wait, with no heat, no warm clothes (left my heavy stuff at the office) but allied showed up within 15min. I told them I wanted to be towed to my work which I thought was about 8-10 miles. The driver said "oh no, its more then that" Whatever, well I check his odometer before we leave ( 502.5) and checked it when we got to VanWall (513.3). He told me it was 12 miles and I needed to pay $4. I said hold the phone, thats only 10.8 miles. he said we round to the whole number 502 and 513, I told him that was 11 miles and my insurance covers that. He refused to unload my car till I paid him, I called the insurance co. and told them, they called his boss and they said the tow driver reported 514 and 502 making it 12 miles which he is full of BS
This guy had always planned on charging me from the word go. I have had some really good tows lately with my wifes cars battery going out and this car dieing on me twice but all other service have been very nice and gone out of thier way (santa fe and Jims tow) to take care of us.
My insurance co. called me today to inform me that they will be removing allied from their referal list and I would agree.
I know it's $4 but its the principal, he lied and couldn't even do 1st grade math. Thanks for the rant it has been bugging me.
